Kurds protest in Turkey on anniversary of Ocalan capture
Kurds clashed with police in the southeastern Turkey during protests to mark the 14th anniversary of the capture of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Ocalan.
In the provinces of Cizre and Van, protesters threw petrol bombs and stones at security forces as riot police used water cannons to disperse the crowd.
Ocalan is serving a life sentence in solitary confinement in Istanbul. He has dropped his call for an independent Kurdish homeland and now calls for a confederation with some political autonomy for Kurds.
