New gang rape shocks India

Six suspects were arrested on Sunday after the gang rape of another bus passenger in India. It comes just four weeks after a university student was raped on a moving bus and died in hospital from injuries sustained during the brutal attack.

In this new incident, police said that a 29-year-old woman was travelling to her village alone by bus in the northern Punjab state on Friday night. Despite her pleas, the driver refused to stop the vehicle at her destination.

Instead, he drove to an isolated building where five friends were waiting. The six allegedly took turns raping the woman throughout the night before the driver dropped her off at her village.

According to police, all suspects have admitted involvement in the rape and the victim is recovering at home.
