There are fresh concerns about the health of the President of Venezuela.

Hugo Chávez is being treated for complications due to a respiratory infection he picked up after an operation in December in Cuba.

A delegation of family and ministers has flown to Havana, where Chavez is recovering from his fourth operation for cancer since being diagnosed in 2011.

Speaking from the Cuban capital, the Vice President told reporters that 19 days after surgery, President Chávez’ state of health continues to be delicate. The complications are being dealt with but the treatment does entail some risk.

The 58-year-old socialist leader has not been seen in public or heard from for the last three weeks.
