The first two funerals following the massacre of twenty schoolchildren and six adults in Connecticut on Friday have taken place.

Mourners came together to celebrate the short life of Noah Pozner and Jack Pinto, both aged six years old.

Noah was the youngest victim of Adam Lanza’s shooting spree at Sandy Hook Elementary School. His twin sister Arielle escaped unhurt. The youngster’s family showed their appreciation to mourners. A member of the local community David Wiener paid tribute to the boy.

All the dead children were six or seven years old. Newtown schools remained closed on Monday. Youth sports groups set up an indoor field day to keep children busy on a cold and wet start to the week.

Signs of prayer and encouragement and memorials can be seen across the region. Local officials are still undecided when and where classes will resume in the Connecticut town.
