Andreas Kofler blocks German ski jump dominance


Ski Jump star Andreas Kofler has leapt to victory at the normal hill individual competition in Sochi, Russia.

The Austrian records his 11th career World Cup ski jumping victory at the venue of the 2014 winter Olympic Games.

The 28-year-old blew away the competition, scoring 273.1 points he was 10 points clear of his nearest rival.

This victory moves Kofler up into fourth place in the overall standings on 216 points.
Richard Freitag finished second, his best World Cup finish of the season so far.

The German’s previous best being the sixth place he recorded a day earlier.

Freitag’s compatriot, Andreas Wellinger finished third. His first ever World-Cup podium finish.

World Cup leader Severin Freund is also a German, he was placed fifth Sochi.
