Serbian students protest against war crimes tribunal

Police say around 3,000 students marched through Belgrade on Tuesday to present parliament with a demand it pass a resolution condemning the recent acquittals in a UN court of a Kosovan and two Croat leaders.

Some of the signs read “Justice is Blind” or “Judges should rule according to the law, not what they are told”.

The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia has condemned and imprisoned several leading Serbs in recent years, but not one single leading figure from the other protagonists.

Last month’s three acquittals have sparked outrage in Serbia. On Friday, Serb ultra-nationalists burned US, EU, NATO and Kosovan flags in the capital.
