There may not have been a throng of press and cameras to welcome ten year-old Anastasia Petryk back home to Kiev but the little girl and her family were flushed with success all the same.
For Anastasia has just become the winner of the 10th Eurovision Junior song contest which was held in Amsterdam over the weekend.
Showing that she is ready to get used to the celebrity life, Anastasia said she thought she had given a good performance as almost all of the countries gave her 12 (points).
“We didn’t immediately celebrate the victory,” she said, “but instead went to have a rest. Afterwards we went to a party and danced until three o’clock in the morning!”
Anastasia’s winning performance of the song ‘Nebo’ was chosen by the combined vote of televoters, juries all over Europe plus a special children’s jury.
