After a recent bout of injury including concussion and back problems from a training accident and a car crash, he returns with talent intact to win the second downhill of the season and his second career win in the discipline.
The Italian deserved his victory considering who came in second.
Pre-race favourite Norway’s Aksel Lund Svindall, Svindall 0.23 seconds adrift of the Italian’s time.
Svindall still leads the overall World Cup standings.
Third place went to his compatriot Kjetil Jansrud.
Saturday sees the Super G on the same Birds of Prey piste.
