WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is said to have a chronic lung infection which could “worsen at any time.”
According to the South American country’s ambassador to Britain the condition has been sparked by his living in a confined space.
“He is suffering from the consequences of a lack of sunlight and a lack of fresh air. He has a chronic lung infection that could get worse at any moment,” said Ana Alban Mora.
Assange, whose website angered the United States by releasing thousands of secret diplomatic cables, has been holed up inside Ecuador’s embassy in London since June.
He is wanted in Sweden for questioning over rape and sexual assault allegations. Assange has denied any wrongdoing.
