Kathrin Zettel continued her consistent start to the women’s world cup season after the 26-year-old won the slalom race in Aspen Colorado.
Zettel improved on her second place showing in the giant slalom on Saturday to take top honours in the slalom with a winning combined time of one minute and 42.46 seconds.
It was Zettel’s third podium finish from the season’s opening four races and keeps her in second place overall behind Slovenian Tina Maze, who was third after having won the giant slalom the day before.
The Austrian team celebrated a one two finish in Aspen on Sunday when Marlies Schild claimed second place.
The four-time slalom world cup champion was third after the first run in the morning but improved her time in the afternoon leg to take the runners-up spot ahead of Maze, who leads the general standings 50 points clear of Zettel.
