Not a great time to be a turkey in the USA, celebrating Thanksgiving with family dinners across the nation. But two have received the traditional Presidential Pardon, along with a nod to the recent re-election campaign.
“You know they say life is all about second chances, and this November I couldn’t agree more. So, in the spirit of the season, I have one more gift to give and it goes to a pair of turkeys named Cobbler and Gobbler.
It is also a time to remember those who are less fortunate and this year that is particularly true for our neighbours in the Northeast who have lost their homes, their possessions and even their loved ones to Hurricane Sandy,” said President Barack Obama.
After that the Obamas went to a Washington food bank to hand out food to the elderly and children, but Cobbler and Gobbler will not be finishing on a plate, as they return to their farm to bask in retirement.
