Ten people were killed in a plane crash in Yemen today. The military jet came down in an abandoned produce market near Sanaa Airport after experiencing a technical error.
According to officials in the country, the pilot attempted to land the aircraft in an open area in the Hasaba suburb of the city after reporting problems.
Ambulances raced to the scene of the accident. Large crowds had gathered with witnesses saying that the Antonov plane had completely burnt out and that thick black smoke had covered the area.
This man said that he saw the plane flying over the first armoured division and saw the right engine burning. It then descended and landed near where he was standing.
Just over a year ago, a Yemeni military jet crash landed in an air base in the south of the country killing nine passengers.
