The ongoing war in Gaza has also been felt in the sporting world and on the football pitches in Israel.

Despite the tight security fans heading to a match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Bnei Yehuda were forced to flee for cover when sirens sounded the imminent arrival of Hamas missiles close by.

Although potential further threats were likely, remarkably life quickly returned to normal.

The players returned to the field and the fans to the stands as the match was resumed with little fuss and played in full, with Bnei Yehuda securing an unlikely 1-0 victory over the league leaders.
