Jeremie Beyou became the latest skipper to drop out of the Vendee Globe solo around-the-world yacht race.
The Frenchman – who is now the fifth competitor out of the 20 strong fleet to pull out – suffered irreparable damage to his keel near the Cap Vert islands off the coast of Senegal. It is the second Vendee Globe in a row Beyou has been forced to retire after also abandoning the race four years ago due to rigging problems.
