Tel Aviv's first Iron Dome intercepts two rockets

Sirens have wailed in Tel Aviv for the third time in three days warning of incoming rockets launched from Gaza.

The realisation that Palestinian militants can now reach Israel’s economic capital has sped up deployment of anti-missile machines.

An iron dome battery had barely been installed in Tel Aviv when it was suddenly brought into operation.

The iron dome missiles intercepted one rocket – the other fell to the ground. No injuries were reported.

Hamas militants confirmed they were behind the launching of the Iranian-built Fajr 5 rockets.

Reporting from the scene euronews correspondent Luis Carballo said:

“Behind me, right here, is the first battery deployed in Tel Aviv. The first anti-rocket battery iron dome to be installed here. A few hours after it was put into service it went into action and destroyed one of the rockets launched from Gaza. The rocket was intercepted in the direction of the coast from the east.”
