Peugeot and General Motors have put the brakes on talks due to the French car makers financial problems and government-backed bailout, according to sources.
The two car giants had announced an operational partnership in February and were also exploring a tie up between Peugeot and Opel – GM’s European brand based in Germany.
A spokesman for Peugeot said there were no Opel talks currently in progress breaking a months silence since they were first reported.
