Cloud Atlas explodes onto screens worldwide

The cast of Cloud Atlas reads something like a Hollywood Who’s Who, headed up by Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Susan Saranden.

The film itself is an epic blockbuster involving a whole clutch of love stories spanning different eras, and the actors enjoy themselves immensely changing sex and even racial identity, because guess what? – the central pair of lovers are the same souls reborn over and over! Yup, it’s popcorn in philosophy sauce.

The film is supposed to be about deep stuff like karma but whether or not it is ultimately coherent, critics yet have to decide. Not that it really matters. It’s this year’s holiday blockbuster – and we’ll all end up seeing it sooner or later.
