Random Penguin might sound like some unlistenable 70s rock band, but the publishing house created by Pearson’s book unit merging with Bertelsmann’s Random House will create a monster.

The joint venture will be Bertelsmann-run, with five directors to four from Pearson, and its official name will be Penguin Random House.

However News Corporation is reportedly preparing a bid for Penguin which Rupert Murdoch may want to merge with Harper Collins.
