Belgian authorities are investigating the mysterious murder of a British oil executive in Brussels.
On October 14 Nicholas Mockford was shot in front of his wife Mary outside a restaurant where they had been dining.
Police had initially thought the murder was the result of a botched car-jacking, but later discovered the couple’s car had not been touched.
60-year-old Mr Mockford worked for US oil giant ExxonMobil for 38 years, spending time in Britain, Belgium and Singapore.
A spokesman for the company said they are “all shocked” but there is “no indication that the incident was work related.”
