Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi says he won’t run again for the top job.
The 76-year-old has ended months of speculation about his future, saying he would only stay in politics in an advisory capacity.
There had been rumours that he would lead the People of Freedom (PDL) party in next year’s election.
Berlusconi stepped down last year as the financial crisis edged his country towards bankruptcy.
