It is Baku’s annual international jazz festival. Founded in 2005 by Azeri saxophonist Rain Sultanov, it brings together some of the world’s finest jazz musicians.

It celebrates Azerbaijan’s long-held affection for the American-born art, which dates back to the 1950s and 60s, an era when jazz was outlawed by Soviet authorities as decadent and undesirable.
