Toyota recalls millions of cars over electrical fault

The world’s biggest car maker, Toyota, has issued a global recall for millions vehicles.

In the worst case scenario malfunctioning electric window switches could overheat and melt, but
no accidents, injuries or deaths have been reported so far, the company says.

Nearly 1.5 million cars in Europe are affected out of a total of 7.4 million worldwide.

The problem affects a variety of models among them the Yaris, Corolla, Matrix, Auris, Camry and RAV4 vehicles produced between 2005 and 2010.

It comes three years after the Japanese firm’s reputation was hit by a recall involving 12 million cars. A number of fatal accidents were linked to a fault caused by floor mats sticking under the accelerator pedal leading to sudden acceleration.
