Italy’s Interior Minister has sacked the entire council in the southern city of Reggio Calabria to stop it being taken over by the mafia. 30 councillors have been dismissed due to links with organised crime. It is the first time that an entire regional administration has been sacked en masse. Fresh elections will be held.
