More than 700 people have joined a silent procession through a small Welsh town for a five-year-old girl who has been missing since last Monday.

A church service was also held in Machynlleth to say prayers for April Jones whose disappearance
sparked a huge search effort involving hundreds of volunteers.

Mountain rescue teams have combed the remote mid-Wales countryside over the past few days.

Police presume that April has been murdered although her body has yet to be found.

A 46-year-old man has been charged with her murder and is due to appear in court on Monday.

Mark Bridger also faces charges of child abduction and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Police say reinforcements will join the search for April’s body from Monday.
