India's landless march on capital

Tens of thousands of peasant farmers in India are continuing their march from the north of the country, to demand a fairer share of land and resources.

They started their 350 kilometre walk from Gwalior to the capital, New Delhi on Wednesday.

Organisers hope to help those who have been forced to quit land to make way for major projects on which the country’s future economic growth is based.

In 2007 a similar march resulted in a similar march resulted in a series of promises by the government, but it is said that they were either not kept or did not go far enough.
