Right across the United States, Americans were glued to their television sets to catch their President Barack Obama go head to head with Republican candidate Mitt Romney in their first debate of the campaign. Euronews’ reporter in Washington DC watched the proceedings in a bar just a stones throw away from the White House. The first reactions of customers at the “Busboys and Poets” was clearly in favour of the current leader.
One middle aged lady said that she felt that “Mitt Romney was rather smug” but believed that “Obama was himself”.
A young man who also enjoyed the debate thought that “the president did a great job.”
Voters will have to wait a little under two weeks to see the next Presidential Debate. It will take place on October 16th in the town of Hempstead in the state of New York.
