Champions League: Bate Borisov stun Bayern

Belarus’ Bate Borisov produced a superb display to stun Bayern Munich 3-1 in their Champions League clash at the Dynamo Stadium on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, Brazilian midfielder Jonas struck twice as Valencia downed Lille 2-0 at the Mestalla.

In group E, Italian giants Juventus were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Shakhtar Donetsk and this result sees Mircea Lucescu’s men move into second place, just behind Chelsea after they hammered Nordsjælland 4-0 in Copenhagen.

In group G, Alexis Sánchez and Cesc Fábregas both netted as Barcelona secured all three points against Benfica at the Estádio da Luz.

Meanwhile former Manchester City striker Georgios Samaras scored in injury time as Celtic’s 3-2 win at Spartak Moscow ended a 26-year wait for a Champions League away win.

In group H, Dutch international Robin van Persie scored a brace of goals to hand Manchester United a narrow 2-1 win at Cluj while goals in either half from Ruben Micael and Alan were enough for Braga to earn all three points against bottom side Galatasaray.
