Israeli has carried out a surprise military drill in the Golan Heights close to the border with Syria.
It was the Israeli Defense Forces’ largest exercise of its kind in years
Tens of thousands of soldiers took part, including service personnel from the artillery and air force.
The drill ended with troops firing live rounds in Golan, which it captured from Syria in 1967.
Israeli officials fear Syria’s stockpile of chemical weapons could fall into the hands of militants as the country’s civil war rages on.
There are also heightening tensions with Iran over its nuclear ambitions.
Israel has been warning of a Iranian nuclear strike for nearly two decades, but Tehran has always denied its programme has a military dimension.
