Hundreds of Palestinians have clashed with Israeli border guards in yet more protests over an anti-Islam film.
As the demonstrators approached the crossing that links east and west Jerusalem they were confronted by Israeli security.
Around 200 youths threw stones and firebombs police responded with teargas.
In Washington the US announced tighter security measures for its diplomatic staff.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said:
“We are taking aggressive steps to protect our staff in embassies and consulates worldwide. That includes reviewing our security posture at every post and augmenting it where necessary.”
In Pakistan the government has blocked access to You Tube in order to prevent the film, which insults the Prophet Mohammed, from being seen.
The country has been gripped by anti-US protests since the Californian-made film came to the attention of the Muslim world.
President Obama called the video “offensive” but said it was no excuse for violence.
