A suicide bomber has struck close to the heavily fortified Green Zone in the Iraqi capital Baghdad.

At least four people have been killed including two Iraqi soldiers. A dozen others were injured.

The area is also known as the International Zone because several Western diplomatic missions are located there including the US and British embassies.

A police source described how a speeding car exploded as other vehicles were lining up to be searched at a security checkpoint.
