Arturo’s funeral in Copenhagen

Hundreds of artists have descended upon Copenhagen this morning for a tribute to Victor Detta who, until recently, worked under the pseudonym of “Arturo”. Friday brought some stunning news as we learned, almost simultaneously, of an ambitious art heist in six different countries that seemed to have Detta’s fingerprints all over it and Victor Detta’s murder while under Police custody at a hospital here in Copenhagen.

A joint international task force with the support of Europol’s art division has looked into both events, and yesterday another murder was uncovered in Copenhagen, this time of an artist associated with Detta and suspected in the robbery at the National Gallery.
But today, artists from as far away as Italy have come to show their respects for Detta, who was known to people in the Copenhagen community as a philanthropist.
