Results from Britain’s Kingfisher on Wednesday were a reminder that the crisis is far from over.

Europe’s biggest home improvement retailer, which runs B&Q, Castorama and Brico Dépôt, posted first-half results below expectations after a rainy summer has cut demand for outdoor items – things like gardening equipment and barbecues.
