One Direction steal show at MTV Video Music Awards

British boy band One Direction were the big winners at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, taking home three prizes; best pop video, best new artist and most share-worthy video.

They even edged out superstar Rihanna, who came to Los Angeles with five nominations and walked away with just one award, although it was the most coveted; Video of the Year for We Found Love.
