At least 58 people have drowned after a boat carrying illegal immigrants sank off the coast of Turkey.
The passengers were believed to be mostly from Syria and Iraq and had apparently been promised passage to Europe by smugglers.
The vessel had been carrying 100 people, according to Turkish authorities.
Survivors managed to swim the 50 metres in the Aegean Sea to the Turkish coast, however many, including women and children, were trapped below deck on the submerged boat.
