The US Democratic party has kicked off its national convention in Charlotte, North Carolina with a speech by one of its major assets. First Lady Michelle Obama was given a standing ovation even before she began extolling the virtues of her husband.
One she got started the message was loud and clear, ‘vote for him – he is one of you’.
“Barack knows what it means when a family struggles – he knows what it means to want something more for your kids and grandkids- Barack knows the American Dream because he’s lived it and he wants everyone in this country, everyone to have the same opportunity no matter who we are or where we are from or what we look like or who we love,” said the First Lady.
But Barack Obama has a long way to go before clinching a second term; under fire for high unemployment and a weak economy, pundits say he needs to call on every ounce of loyalty from those voters who backed him in 2008, to win another four years in the White House.
