EU and US take their trading places With buyers literally fighting to get into showrooms and order its cars, General Motors in Uzbekistan is launching a new model.
The Chevrolet Cobolt, the ninth vehicle being built at GM’s plant there, goes on sale next year.
Some are for export, mostly to Russia and other former Soviet Republics, but the local market has soared with people lining up for hours to pay a deposit and order cars which they may have to wait up to 18 months for.
On occasions order broke down in the queues and prospective buyers suffered injuries.
