Barack Obama will make his big convention speech on Thursday, but in the meantime he has not been remaining silent in the run-up.

The US President campaigned in Norfolk, Virginia, an important swing state in which he attacked his Republican rival for being “long on rhetoric, but short on ideas”.

“They say everything is bad and it’s Obama’s fault and Governor Romney knows the secret to creating jobs and growing the economy. The only problem was, he kept it secret,” he told crowds of his supporters.

Romney is unlikely to stay silent either with the Republicans preparing to unleash an aggressive publicity effort.
