An attack by a suicide bomber in a car in Pakistan’s northwestern city of Peshawar has killed five people and injured at least 19 others. The seriously wounded include two foreigners.

Initial reports stated two Americans had been killed, however the US embassy in Islamabad has denied these claims.

A car packed with explosives rammed into a what local police say is a US government vehicle.

The attack happened in an area of the city which has a number buildings used by various international agencies, including the United Nations.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, however Pakistan’s Taliban are close to al Qaeda and have been blamed for similar bombings in the past.

The car exploded in an area that is near the border with Afghanistan, a stronghold for Islamic militants.
