Syrian rebels claim more hits against govt

Rebel fighters in Syria claim to have shot down a Syrian air force fighter in the Idlib province close to the Turkish border. A video posted on the internet purports to show the pilot after he had bailed out.

More internet video, which also cannot be independently authenticated, appears to show an air-raid on the town of Kafr Nabl in Idlib on the day activists claim to have shot down a MiG jet. Text posted with the images claims an air force defector said they found remains of a phosphorous bomb.

And still the fighting goes on. Rebels have been filmed apparently continuing the battle for Aleppo. It was a similar picture in Homs where video appeared to show another victory against the government – a burnt out tank.

As civil war intensified, so the flow of hundreds of thousands of civilians escaping the brutality has picked up pace. At one camp in Turkey there was little hope for any positive outcome from the UN Security Council meeting on the humanitarian crisis.
