Exciting art or cruelty to pigeons?

Make your own mind up over the coloured plumage currently to be seen in St Mark’s Square in Venice.

In a project linked to the city’s architecture Biennale, artists Julian Charriere and Julius von Bismarck have given pigeons vivid colours, saying it is a bid to give them individual identities.

For animal defence activists, the end doesn’t justify the means.
