The woman known in the US as “the first lady of comedy”, Phyllis Diller has died at the age of 95. Her raucous laugh, zany wardrobe and jokes about herself were her trade mark as she broke into the male dominated world of stand-up in the 1950s.
From housewife to superstar, fellow comics called her the “Queen of one-liners”.
