Thailand: Soldiers shot dead in rebel ambush

Having shot dead four soldiers, suspected Islamist rebels in Thailand’s southern Pattani province were caught on surveillance camera stealing their victims’ rifles.

The attackers then used the weapons to fire at possibly another oncoming police vehicle.

The killing of the troops, who had been riding motorbikes, is the latest deadly attack in a long-running insurgency in Thailand’s deep south, blamed on Muslim separatists.
