In the run-up to tonight’s Olympic opening ceremony in London, all eyes are on the sky. Will it rain on the Olympic parade or not?
Earlier today the tarmac was sprinkled with a light rain shower, but forecasters are predicting that the clouds will disperse by this evening and in any case, the prospect of rain does not seem to be dampening spirits in the Olympic village.
The weather can either hamper or favour various athletes. In running events for example, warm conditions are good for sprinters, but cooler temperatures are better for long distance runners. But whatever the weather, organisers are confident that the show will go on.
