With just a few days until the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Games, the International Olympic Committee has been officially welcomed to the city by Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II.
The monarch and her husband Prince Philip hosted a reception for committee members including IOC President Jacques Rogge at Buckingham Palace.
The Queen sent out her warm wishes to the more than 10,000 athletes who are making their final preparations ahead of the 17-day event which begins on Friday.
She was also presented with a set of gold, silver and bronze medals.
Also there were the Duke of York and the Princess Royal who is president of the British Olympic Association.
