King Juan Carlos has been fired as honourary head of the Spanish arm of The World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
The announcement comes a few months after the King was spotted shooting elephants in Botswana.
News of his safari trip provoked a barrage of criticism over the extravagant lifestyle of the King when Spaniards are suffering harsh austerity measures.
