Grey skies as 'Paris on Sea' is unveiled


It was not quite the weather for it but Paris has inaugurated its annual summer beach along the banks of the River Seine.

Paris Plages has become a regular feature with tens of thousands of tonnes of sand shipped in to give the French capital a seaside theme.

But leaden skies marked the first day amid one of the dullest summers on record. So ‘beach-goers’ would be well advised to remember their umbrellas!
