The tropical rain was not enough to stop Hollywood actor Michael Madsen from making an appearance on the red carpet at the Odessa International Film Festival. Well-known for Tarantino films like “Reservoir Dogs” and “Kill Bill” the U.S. actor was there to present his new film “Garbage”, where he plays himself in Phil Volken’s low-budget comedy. Madsen told euronews he hopes playing a comedy role will show a more versatile side to his acting abilities.

Odessa is intrinsically linked to the films of the classic Russian director Sergej Eisenstein, as well as to its landmarks like the Potemkin stairs and the Former Stock Market, and it is in this setting, veteran British director Peter Greenaway presented his latest feature film, which focuses on Eisenstein’s journey to Mexico in the 1930s.
