Olympic 50 metre freestyle champion Cesar Cielo predicted on Wednesday, Brazil will leave the London Olympics with more medals than the total of 10 they took home from Beijing in 2008.
The 25 year old, who will compete in the 50, the 100 metres and the 4×100 medley, was one of three Brazilians who won gold four years ago. The others were Maurren Maggi in the women’s long jump and the women’s volleyball team.
Meanwhile, swimmers representing the Democratic Republic of Congo are training in less than ideal conditions.
This will be the first Olympics for Mbombo Soleil who is the Congolese champion in the 50 metre breast stroke.
Soleil is a swimming celebrity in the country having started at the age of 16, more than 20 years ago. Since then she has won every competition the national federation has organised.
The London Games get underway on the 27th of July.
