Battling fires on Portugal’s Madeira island

Wildfires are sweeping across the Portuguese island of Madeira, with teams of over 100 people, including soldiers, battling to extinguish the flames.

Some houses have been destroyed and a number of people have been evacuated.

There are currently at least 14 wildfires across the Portuguese mainland.
