An image which shows French far right leader Marie Le Pen with the swastika imposed on her face could lead to Madonna being sued. It was included in a video shown at the American’s concert in Paris on Saturday.
Le Pen has sought to widen the appeal of France’s far right party and has tried to remove extremist elements and crack down on anti-Semitism. She had already warned she would take the 53-year-old superstar to court if the video was shown in France.
“We will file a complaint because Marine Le Pen’s honour has been attacked and the honour of our supporters, our members and our millions of voters. Any politician would react in the same way. Marine Le Pen won’t be had,” explained Florian Philippot, Vice President Front National.
The 53-year-old singer is on a 30 nation world tour and had first used the video on stage at a concert in Tel-Aviv at the end of May. Her performance at Paris which was not sold out is one of two French dates. She is due to perform in France again on August 21 in Nice.
The far right who said the lawsuit would be filed this week has accused the singer of using the video to get more people to her concerts.
